VX SS, Black, Red Leather, Manual, Low Kms
Have a go at something like this? For the same sort of value you've got something with almost 100,000kms less on the clock. Black, manual, leather & its in QLD.
You should be able to knock these guys down in price a bit because they're a tough car to sell on the market these days.
Keep it for a bit and then put the rims you want on it. 300kw does sound attractive but at the end of the day a tune doesn't cost all that much anymore, nor does an exhaust etc..

Nice one. You can VX SS's cheaper, but that one has leather, sunroof, 19's, some engine work - the twin plate clutch is worth a few $ too. You would be hard pressed to buy a black manual VX SS with leather and sunroof, then add the 19s, clutch and engine work for under $23k. Try and negotiate, if you can get it for $20k, you would be laughing.

$16500 will get you a stock VX SS - good luck finding a decent manual for that price, let alone a manual with leather and sunroof.....

Yeah that's true mate!
The only reason the other one did appeal to me was because it had some money spent on it and would save some $$ by not having to do it myself. It also has every optional feature you can get including side airbags etc. The one you just showed me has really nothing and more money i might give them a ring see if there taking offers and stuff because 23K is my maximum at this stage.. Thanks for ya help and advice !

Thanks mate i rather be spending a little more right now and getting the full optioned one then getting a standard SS with no leather or sunroof etc and it having rims and a sub for instance.
I spoke to him about it and he said that the 300kw tune made 220 or around that at the tyres. How much would a nice lumpy cam installed set me back and tunned drive in drive out?
Thanks for ya help mate!
Rick.

My cam install was $2850 all up for the cam, springs, underdrive pulley and touch up tune.
The cam is pretty cool, definitely grab a RipShifter too.

Sounds like a good deal to me. Over here in WA that car would fetch in the high 20's. Hard to find em with all those options.
If its got everything you want then I'd say buy it, with a little negotiation of course. Remember you are also paying for the condition of the car, if its as good as you say. At least know that its been loved by the previous owner, and was less likely to have been a tight-arse with maintenance/servicing and the likes.

Better still, if you know someone that has an idea, cams aren't that hard to put in really with a bit of guidance. You do the springs & the pulley while you're there. Get it to a tuner and you'll save yourself a lot of money.

offer him 21 and take it. a stocko will be like 16k plus, but sunroof and leather is a combo u dont always see, especially in black. sometimes paying a few grand extra for a car with a few mods is good as it saves u spending the money on basic obvious mods straight up. like i would figure, full exhaust, wheels, decent suspension, and a little engine work and tune theres prob an extra 8k spent on the car, so if u can get it for around the 21 mark. then its not a bad buy, it looks very well looked after

Nice
But remember, the VX R8 is arguably the best looking Clubby holden have produced thus far, and that includes the new ones.

Completely agree, sleekest clubby to date, almost coupe like.
I think that's not a bad price if a little to the high end of the scale. It is a beauty though! That paint makes me happy in the pants.

And don't forget the little ol' normal VX Clubby. The only difference on the outside between the R8 is the rims

Yeah I gotta say.......my car may not be an SS but its a VX Berlina 5.7. Sure it has a few kays on it but when I got it it had full service history, and was for sale in the same holden dealers it came from new. I picked that up for 13k. Spent a bit on tune, cam, box and now its alot of fun. Total sleeper. I guess if your keeping it long term and it wouldnt be a daily then go the black SS.

Show me a manual VX SS in good nick with decent kms for under $16000.... Especially a series 2 in black which has decent mods. I paid $16000 for mine (stock) and that is about the cheapest I have ever seen one. One with leather and sunroof, wheels, exhaust, tune, clutch for less than $20k....? I have never seen one...

Fair enough, like I said, I haven't seen one, but I don't get on ebay that often. I haven't really looked at the prices since I got mine. I don't think that the car above is a bad buy considering what has been done to it, getting it for around the $20k mark would be good. Although, the car does have P plates which would concern me a bit.
