Thats par for the course, almost all vehicles with any structural changes will require it, i have a copy of the tests and requirements here somewhere, along with 11ty00 pages of related (boring to most) crap.
I used the wheel as an example of something the average guy might have trouble with at rego time/inspection by plod, purely because the owner isnt aware of the regulations, i suppose now they are courtesy of your post, but it still needs to be certified.
Please rant away about the trials of engineering a modified car, im certainly keen and take an avid interest in the pages and pages of regulations involved in the process.
Where are you located, and how long can I sit in the shop and talk shit before you kick me out lol, at least here you can post at your leisure and get some real (paying) work done in the workshop.
Id still like to know what classification youre shooting for, MPV with totally different rear rails probably wont happen, and while the engineering costs alone for an ICV would give a normal person an aneurysm (let alone the beauracratic nightmare of paperwork) lets not talk about the actual work costs and how deep ones pockets need to be lol.
Please dont take any of my comments as a "heckle" from a forumite goober, but im interested in more than the "bling" and im sure there are others who would appreciate some insight into the realities of such a build, rather than just the end result, god knows it would a pleasant difference to the usual banal gibber i read.
again, nice work and I hope to see much more of it.
cheers

Yep.. Nice work mate

The HX front end is a interesting one, Chad have you thought about fitting a IFS front end from RodTech?
I have one on my 32, they are pricey but damn they are a nice bit of gear!

We did look at the rodtech front ends, as i beleive Talk Torque did the engineering on them as well... At the end of the day it was really a timing issue... We needed to forge on with the project so we went with the HK...

Maybe you can put it on display at C4C in October to let everyone have a look at the amount of work that has gone in to it already.

I just came across this thread didnt know it was on here as i know the owner as i sold the car to him & help built it the first time with the ls1 conversion, but i thought it was gunna be kept under wraps till it was finished but maybe not.
Yes it is the only vq 5000i statesman made in silver ( out of 81 in total )
Yes there was a silver caprice 5000i but they were a different batch only 3 or 5 built would have to double check in my records.
This thing is gunna be one tuff classy car when its finish & yes it is gunna be driven for sure
We are still working out the power plant as theres alot to take into count special when where talking 1000hp to smoke them huge rear bags

Haha, I know a guy it sounds like the people want it there, man. Could be a great vessel through which to promote the services on offer at DW, and not just your air bags and fab work either

Brakes arrived this morning and we wasted no time in getting the fronts on to test fitment: Fronts are 375mm x 32mm 2Piece rotors with 6 piston APRacing calipers... Rears are 342mm x 26mm 1Piece rotors with 4 piston APRacing calipers with internal handbrake mechanism custom made to suit the 9" floater rear assembly...

That looks like Howards 365mm 6 piston kit. Hope you don't leave the calipers with the bleed nipples at the bottom.

Just unbelievable! wonder how'd you get the hoist under it if its so slammed?
how much lower is the motor going to sit in the bay? kinda looks like a 6/71 could be kept under the bonnet
great work guys, keep it coming.
liam - this could be street commo's version of project king kong cuda in street machine
needs regular updates in the mag, couple of features (bare metal, end result etc etc) haha

The 6/71 was an option but instead I think twin snails will be finding a home in the bay somewhere...

Road worthy? That would be awesome.
...but they're screwed if they get a flat. Oh and boys, buy some shares in chiropractors.
Regardless whether this is going to be a trailer toy or road warrior - I am looking forward to the finished product.

If they get a flat then they can still air the car up and get the wheel out? We are trying to address all the legalities with the whole build...

Strange Diff centre arrived earlier this week and we have reworked some of the rear to reflect the tubework in the front...
