Cruise for Charity 7 - IT'S ON!
CRUISE FOR CHARITY IS ON AGAIN IN 2010!
2010 has brought with it an air of change for the Street Commodores Cruise for Charity, and in conjunction with our generous partners Meguiar’s, House of Kolor and Liquimoly we are embracing the exciting new direction for the event.
Cruise for Charity has infamously supported the Starlight Children’s Foundation for all of it’s six years of operation however, after $500,000 worth of support, we have recognised the need to support the myriad other charities and foundations that operate in Australia.
Wanting to assist sick children in some way we came into contact with the Children’s Hospital Foundations Australia, of whom many may not have heard. It is this anonymity and under-recognition, supplemented by the incredible reach of their services that won CHFA our support as the Cruise’s sole benefiter for 2010.
CHFA is the national partnership of five of the country’s leading Children’s hospitals:
• Women’s and Children’s Hospital Foundation, South Australia
• Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation, Victoria
• Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation, Queensland
• Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation, New South Wales
• Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, Western Australia
Combined, these hospitals treat and administer care to over 1,000,000 sick and injured kids each and every year. Funds raised are distributed evenly throughout the hospitals in each state and go towards clinical research, equipment and patient/family hospital services, that otherwise would not exist.
So what does this mean for all participating in Australia’s largest Commodore event this year? In a nut shell, the money you hand over at your Cruise for Charity event this year is poured straight back into your local Children’s Hospital by CHFA.
In 2010, given the event’s now unstoppable momentum and exponential growth as exhibited in previous years we see no reason why the benchmark set by 2008 and 2009 of $150,000 of national donations can’t be met and exceeded!
We are excited about the partnership with CHFA and urge you all to donate as generously as you have done in the past for this seriously deserving cause.
The national calendar of events is as follows:
Queensland - Sunday, August 1st
Sydney - Saturday, August 7th
Western Australia - Sunday, September 19th
Victoria - Sunday, October 3rd
South Australia - Saturday, October 9th
Tasmania - Sunday, October 17th
These dates are prone to change and the best way to keep up to date with the latest Cruise for Charity happenings is to log onto the Street Commodores internet forum, or make contact with the Street Commodores office.
We look forward to seeing you all supporting the event in 2010!

The larger Cruise for Charity window stickers will not be available this year.
The time and money that is allocated to creating these stickers that are used for promotion outweighs the outcome from them. We are lookng at more profitable ways to promote Cruise for Charity that will ultimately result in more donations towards the charity.
Apologies for this outcome but we hope you can understand the reasons behind this decision.

I dont see how? The design is pretty much there with the logos, just get it sent to a sticker shop and make people pay for what they cost and maybe make a couple of $$ on them for charity?
Hell, if its time your worried about, ive got plenty and i could do it, and distribute from SA.

wow that's a biggie, the amount of people that asked me last year about CFC was because of the sticker ..as previously stated people had to wait in line to get them so that proves how popular they were one wonders if you can't bother why the heck should we....

If you're not already, why not get a sticker shop or whoever will make them to donate the stickers and then C4C can charge for them to generate more donations for the CHFA?

Speaking from experience, it's far from a matter of 'simply can't be bothered'. We are flat out putting magazines together and organising the cruise and things on the side like this take a lot of time not only to initiate, but to run. We mailed out every single sticker last year which takes time. At this stage in the game we need to manage our time very effectively, and the time spent printing and mailing these stickers now has to be allocated to other areas.
Is it something that will return in the future? Sure, we can look at it next year. I understand that the large promotional stickers were very popular however the reality is that they cannot happen this year.
I'd hate to think that anyone would 'not be bothered' to support the event over this trivial, minor detail.

As stated before this is a big issue as those stickers were so popular you are just not doing it because you have no time why dont you delegate it to someone else
someone else has said they could do it and i said i would help him also im sure we are more than capable we can send them all out to people also
there are so many people going to be disappointed
i think the time factor is just an excuse

No, if we had time and didn't want to do it then it would be an excuse. As I stated we would be doing it if we had the time, but we don't, as such it's a reason for our not printing the stickers.
Someone else can co-ordinate it if they so wish. I'll provide them with the logo and dates but being a charitable cause and dealing with money it's not a task I suggest anyone take lightly. All outgoing and incoming expenses need to be logged clearly and everything justified. It's no small task, but as I said if someone wants to make it happen I'll do everything in my power, time permitting, to facilitate that.

It really is disheartening when people like yourself discount the work that volunteers put into this day. Organising the stickers is not a one day job, its also not a one person job, it also needs to be approved by three different entities that have their business image to protect.
I only hope that some of you can use your common sense and understand that the stickers at not something that generate enough publilicty to warrant prioritising above other elements.
If you would like to make your own please understand that Cruise for Charity is a registered trade mark and you will be required to go through all the correct chanels of management to have these approved prior to production along with all the financial requests and statements submitted and approved prior and after to any commitment to production.
As for the comment about new management sucking, you are not a very nice person at all.
Next year maybe you can look at running the event in Sydney along with taking care of all correspondance nationally for each organiser, the charity agreements along with the major event sponsors, advertisers and Express management for each and every decision made regarding Cruise for Charity.
And on top of that put together numerous magazines.
You dont understand that this event is run by less than 10 people nationally, with 2 people in Sydney, one of which has another full time job outside the magazine. Yes we do have volunteers but there is only so much you can ask of them.
We love that you are all so enthusiastic, but a little understanding that we are trying to prioritise items for each event and would much rather concentrate on bringing you a fantastic event rather than a few dozen stickers.
I hope you can appreciate where we are coming from, as we do appreciate what you are saying, and the offer is there for you to take the stickers on as a project, but remember this isnt a simple task.

As above mentioned posts detailed
If you would like to make your own please understand that Cruise for Charity is a registered trade mark and you will be required to go through all the correct chanels of management to have these approved prior to production, along with all the financial requests and statements submitted and approved prior and after to any commitment to production.
We have opted to use different avenues to advertise Cruise for Charity this year, with hope to increase the strength of the event, in the future years will look at having the stickers made again.
