Default UPDATED: Turbo power! NEW PICS PAGE 3!!!

Just got some pics from George Voutsas at Pro Flow Fabrications in VIC [(03) 8796 3026]!

He's now got one of the two Garrett GT2560R ball bearing turbos mounted to the passenger side of the Alloytec 190 in my VP!

He's definitely not mucking around, having only had the car in his shop for a few weeks and it's progressing fast. Can't wait to see it all fabbed.

Here's a few pics.

Trans is a 5L40E which is being modded before the ignition is turned.
At this stage, the plan is to fit a late model column and run the paddle shift mechanisms, too!

See?!

Not sure about ETs, maybe punt it down the quarter a few times to get numbers for the record, but hoping for around 400+rwhp. If we run out of puff before we run out of motor, I'll swap the turbos to bigger units.

If the motor lets go without busting a rod through the block, I'll rebuild with forged internals and keep pushing.

Ben you must be really happy to see it all starting to take shape now. Looks great and cannot wait to read more about it in the next couple of months. Will there be a nice article in SC on the car? If not there should be.

Great work with the project and with SC.

We'll do some stuff with the forced induction set up, hopefully as a tech story/ies. The car won't be featured until the engine bay, wiring, exterior paint and interior is done over the next year or so. Once it's all finished, yes, it'll be featured extensively in mag and DVD.

Mmm, it'll be hard to keep track being a magazine project. I'll be reviewing costs post-completion, asking workshops etc what the work would have been worth, yes.

Factory sv6 ecu you mean?

Wont it have to be retuned or have a piggy back to tune it for the turbos as well.? Who will do that>

It'll be custom tuned, yes. No tuner has been lined up yet, but there are plenty who can now custom tune the Alloytec ECUs

New pic of the finished passenger side manifold in the first post!

I'll be smoothing out the welds and ceramic coating them once it's all finished and pulled out of the car for the engine bay work.

Just got some really exciting news from George at Pro Flow, who tells us that he'll be keeping the jigs handy from these manifolds for anyone else who is interested in buying a pair for themselves!

So you too could be cruising around in a twin-turbo Alloytec soon, as well!

Call George on (03) 8796 3026 if you'd like some more information.

heheh not a bad idea... but i think i'd have to put a vastly different cam in the 202 for turbo power. That thing is going to be NASTY!

looks good. i didnt figure you would stop with just the motor conversion. if george is gonna do some jigs for the manifolds/dump pipes it would probably be a good idea to do the cooler pipework as well. just have to check the fit in a VZ and could do a complete kit.

the cooler pipework will be a bit different for my car compared to a later model, i would imagine. plus, it'll require the radiator placement be adjusted as well, making it far from a simple bolt in.

i think its more around 10-12psi max. Remember the alloytec has more compression than the old buick and L36's (ecotecs).

Yeh but the alloytec has alloy block and heads plus forged rods (i think). Don't think you can make an accurate comparison between the 3.8lt v6's and the alloytecs, especially given this project is running twins. Haven't looked but i'm making the assumption that the twin gt2560r's are gonna flow more than the common gt35 series turbo's that a lot of people run on the 3.8's.
